Sangini Sood, Psy.D: About Me

My Approach

Collaborative and Solution Focused

I work from a family systems approach, looking at each client not only as an individual but their role in the multiple systems they are a part of (family, school, workplace, community). In doing so, I am able to help identify stressors and dysfunctional patterns and relationships to focus and effect change. My approach is to focus on a client's strengths and internal resiliency to teach and guide clients to naturally and organically produce change in the areas needed most. After each session, clients will be armed with tools and strategies to practice in their daily life.

My Background

Compassion, Advocacy, Expertise

With over 15 years of experience working with clients, I have provided support to individuals, couples and families. I have numerous years of working with clients on the Autism Spectrum and a special interest in individuals and families effected by trauma. Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Psychology and Social Behavior and moved on to earn my Master's and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology. A special interest of mine stems from my doctoral dissertation, "Mental Health for Indian Americans" and enjoy providing culturally relevant services to this community.

I am trained and certified in Positive Parenting and offer sessions and courses in this program that focuses on parenting from a place of love and compassion, rather than harsh discipline. As a mother of three, I understand the complexities of parenting, the challenges and numerous rewards.

I believe that the therapy process is a challenging and extremely rewarding one that can have lifelong benefits. I feel it is a privilege to be allowed into people's lives at difficult times to provide support and guidance, a privilege that is held in the highest regard.
